Right now, Christian is Rhyming and Stealing

Glastonbury

Alot has gone on in the last month. Sadly, much like the Barcelona entry, this will probably be trunkated by the non existence of any kind of memory on my part. Apologies.

Well, everyone came out of Glastonbury saying one thing, and but one thing:

Royksopp.

Friday saw us wandering round and doing the things one does at Glastonbury. Hanging out by the standing stones listening to hippies give speeches about who knows what, rocking out at the odd food vendor playing James Brown and lying about being at one with the hills. A combination of sun*, beer and whatnot ended up with Liz and I pretty well passing out on the Pyramid Stage field for a few hours before heading back to camp where we met up with Katie. Eventually, and don't 'ask me how, I have little memory, we made it to the Other Stage where Royksopp was supposed to be closing the night.

Let me say firstly that if you go to a Royksopp gig and are expecting to hear Melody AM, think again. Liz saw them live before hearing the cd and was shocked when she heard what a 'coffee table' kind of album they put out. Live, they are a very different beast. The set was built up and up in a way I've never seen a dj or live performer do. The whole crowd was getting more and more into it with every track, and the vibe just got better and better, people talking to everyone like the good old days. Just me and my 50,000 closest mates in a big field in some geezer's farm. Anyhow, the end of the set saw that many limbs times four go completely spastic. No muscular control for us, nooo SIR! It was an absolutely apocalyptic ending to a set, and everyone just spent the next half hour talking about how incredible it was. I can't recommend it enough.

*Believe it or not, this summer has been hotter than many an Auckland summer I've seen. Last month, June, was the hotteswt month for 27 years and temperatures regularly hit thirty. Times are changing.
